Direct Tutoring & Therapy
-
This service is designed for learners who require structured, focused intervention for a limited number of hours per week rather than full-time support. It is appropriate for learners with academic gaps, foundational skill weaknesses, language delays, or specific learning challenges that benefit from targeted and consultant-guided instruction. Direct tutoring and therapy are also suitable for learners who need short-term intensive support in a particular area, such as reading fluency, written expression, mathematics, or communication skills, without requiring ongoing daily intervention.
The goal is to provide precise, data-informed teaching that addresses clearly identified skill deficits while supporting steady and measurable progress.

Direct tutoring and therapy sessions are delivered directly by a qualified behavior analyst. Instruction is not delegated or loosely supervised. The consultant works one-to-one with the learner to implement structured teaching, monitor performance, and make immediate instructional adjustments. Programs are developed based on assessment findings and clearly identified skill deficits. Because the consultant is actively teaching, instructional decisions can be made in real time. If a learner requires a change in pacing, additional modeling, increased fluency practice, or task modification, adjustments are implemented immediately.
This level of involvement differs from traditional tutoring models. While tutors may focus primarily on homework support or subject content review, behavior analysts are trained to analyze learning breakdowns, identify underlying component skill deficits, and apply evidence-based instructional systems to accelerate performance. Teaching decisions are guided by data, measurable targets, and applied learning science.
As a result, consultant-led sessions are structured at a higher level of instructional precision and professional expertise. This is reflected in the fee structure, as services are delivered by a licensed professional applying specialized assessment, analysis, and intervention methods. The result is focused, structured intervention designed to produce efficient, measurable, and durable skill development.

Sessions are systematic, performance-based, and measurable. Each session is carefully planned with clear instructional targets, defined performance criteria, and structured teaching sequences. We use a combination of Direct Instruction, Precision Teaching, fluency-based strategies, and guided boardwork instruction depending on the learner’s needs and current skill profile. Skills are broken down into specific, observable components and taught in a logical sequence to prevent confusion and reduce error patterns.
Sessions typically include explicit modeling, guided practice, independent responding, and timed performance trials when appropriate. Teaching is active and responsive. The consultant continuously monitors accuracy, rate of responding, error patterns, and endurance during tasks. Progress is tracked consistently through performance data. When appropriate, frequency measures and visual charting systems are used to evaluate trends and learning acceleration. Instructional variables such as pacing, task complexity, prompting levels, and practice frequency are adjusted based on data rather than assumption.
Rather than focusing on completing worksheets or reviewing homework alone, sessions are designed to strengthen foundational tool and component skills so that larger academic and functional skills become more stable and independent over time. This structured format ensures that learning is not only occurring, but occurring efficiently, measurably, and sustainably.

Traditional tutoring often focuses on completing homework or reviewing school material. While this may provide short-term relief, it does not always address the underlying skills that may be limiting progress. At The Learning Community, we look deeper. We combine a wide range of research-based curricula and instructional systems to design a program tailored specifically to your child’s needs. Rather than following a single textbook or grade-level track, we identify the exact skills that need strengthening and build instruction around them.
This means your child does not simply practice what they are already struggling with. They are taught the foundational tools and component skills that allow larger academic abilities to develop more smoothly and confidently. Our goal is not temporary improvement, but meaningful and lasting growth that supports independence across school and daily life.
